Yes, it is a bit of a dark flat, in an old historical building... but who cares? you don't go to the Eternal City to stay at home and watch TV! specially if it's June, the Colosseum and the Imperial Forum are at a stone's throw and the underground is just a mere 200m away. I was there for a conference at the EUR and it allowed me both to conveniently reach the venue (by underground) and enjoy the city in my spare time with my friends - the other people I met at the conference envied me.
A plus are the cheap and excellent small restaurants nearby. There is a small grocery shop along the road, run by a nice Indian family open till late in case you forgot your breakfast - otherwise you can have 'cappuccino e pasta' (croissant, not spaghetti!) at the 'bar' by the underground. For travelers keen of wearing out their feet exploring town, a great base at a budget! it felt like been a resident.... but if you want comfort and luxury, forget it! go to the Hilton instead :-)
As I said I have no regrets on choosing the place, but .... suggestions:
1) Please get the shower drain cleaned - it was clogged up.
2) Could you provide also a couple of blankets/ bedsheets in addition to duvets? I dislike a/c and I felt quite hot - well, I removed the duvet from inside its case and it worked but... and I'm sure I won't be the only one
3) I'm sure there are brighter, power-saving lights you can used
4) The place is in a great location but a bit dull (too brownish). A touch of bright colours, here and there? batiks on the walls... a colourful bed cover?
not big additional expenses, but it would make it much more appealing to people not used to camp in the desert or on top of mountains like me.
..... it is works, please don't charge more next time! :-)
